How We Work

Partnering with schools and districts to develop innovative strategies that close the achievement gap and prepare all students for 21st-century success

Setting the Vision

Our Partnership Approach

We partner with schools and districts to meet a common challenge: develop innovative strategies that close the achievement gap and better prepare all students for the rigorous demands of college and careers in the 21st century.

We support schools to design, implement, and evaluate new school models of Competency-Based Learning that organize around students' needs, strengths, and motivations.

Four Key Design Principles:

  1. Authentic Transfer

  2. Meaningful Measures

  3. Flexible Environments

  4. Community Alliance

Design and Planning Process

Schools engage in a structured process to design and plan their evolution toward new school models

Future State Design

Schools define their vision by selecting key indicators from the CBLI and translating "Innovation" descriptors into a concrete future state design.

Roadmap Creation

Develop a long-term roadmap describing how to phase in innovative practices, specifying what will be adopted in which grades and subjects each year.

Implementation Plan

Create a detailed one-year plan outlining work streams, deliverables, responsible individuals, milestones, and timeline for the first year of transformation.

CLBI Assessment

The Competency-Based Learning Index defines what it means for schools to be designed around individual student needs, providing a self-assessment tool and progress monitor.

The 360 Support Model

Multi-faceted approach to provide anytime, anywhere access to expertise, resources, and community
